Warning: Possible Spoilers Ahead
I remember the feeling I had walking out of the theater after watching Avengers: Infinity War; Heartbroken, emotionally drained, and at a complete loss for words. The car ride home was a very silent one that evening. The very end of the movie had caused me to physically cry actual tears, especially when Tony Stark lost his only child (Spider Man). I was a blubbering mess as my boyfriend tried to console me, only to make me cry worse at the thought of Iron Man's pain. After watching him develop through all the movies this LITERALLY killed me. I love all the Marvel movies, but the Iron Man series is one of my all time favorites, followed by Thor, followed by Doctor Strange and Spiderman which are tied. Honestly I love all the Marvel movies and super hero stuff has always been far more interesting than anything lovey-dovey or Nicholas Sparks crap.
Taking a look at all of the trailers available for End Game I did notice all 6 of the original Avengers were left untouched at the end of Infinity War. I worry about Captain America and the upcoming movie for various reasons, one being a tweet from his actor about Avengers 4 being his last and I really hope his character pulls through. I think Hunk will have more to do with the storyline in the upcoming movie since he's really only made appearances in various movies and Bruce had issues getting him to come out to fight during Infinity War and I hope it gives his character a moment to shine since he's not had his own movie for a decade. Hawkeye I is coming back as Ronin I hope because of the way he looks in some of the trailers which is new and bad ass. Thor also has had a hell of a ride throughout his movies into Infinity War and I feel he's going to personally take a lot out on Thanos which I'm looking forward to after he lost his brother Loki (which also made me cry), his sister destroyed his weapon, and then he lost most all of his people. Tony is clearly distraught about his fiance Pepper Pots and the fact he may never see her again, as well as the fact he took off and didn't really say goodbye. Black Widow's hair color has been changing color in each trailer so I think there are some significant time lapses in the upcoming Avengers 4. Also in the 3rd trailer Ant Man shows up and I feel he will be incredibly important to the storyline and the Quantum Realm may play a part too.
After watching all of the trailers and absorbing all of this I decided before I was ready to watch End Game or even watch Infinity War again (against my will even though I need to) I should prepare by re-watching all of the Marvel movies in chronological order. Some I literally hadn't seen for a decade, some I hadn't seen at all (any of the Ant-Mans basically) and it was well due time for a refresher. We try to do one movie a night, maybe 2 on the weekends so we don't get too burnt out, up until we finish them all in time before Avengers: End Game leaves theaters.
In case this is something you want to do as well, below is the order of movies to follow the story line:
Captain America: The First Avenger
Captain Marvel
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
The Incredible Hunk
Thor
The Avengers
Iron Man 3
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Ant-Man
Captain America: Civil War
Black Panther
Spider Man: Homecoming
Doctor Strange
Ant-man and the Wasp
Thor: Ragnarok
Avengers: Infinity War
Everyone has their own opinion, this is just mind and here are some variations I've seen:
Captain Marvel much lower on the list if not the very last one however, it is supposed to take place mid 90s so I feel it goes after the first Captain America.
The Incredible Hunk and Iron Man 2 reversed. I like Iron Man better so I watched it first.
Black Panther after right before Infinity War even though he's in Captain America: Civil War.
Spiderman Homecoming and Black Panther swapped. I feel they are both interchangeable in order here.
Ant-man and the Wasp directly after Avengers: Infinity War, most likely due to how difficult it is to determine placement of this movie in the timeline.
Guardians of the Galaxy after Captain America: Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 after Doctor Strange instead of directly after each other. The 2nd takes place a few months after the first so I'm not sure I agree with that.
Iron Man 3 followed by Captain America: Winter Soldier after Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Both movies take place at the same time and it's sad Tony's absence in dealing with Hydra is better explained this way.
If you don't have time to touch on ALL of the Marvel movies, here is the condensed version that is still acceptable:
Captain America: The First Avenger
Iron Man
The Avengers
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Captain America: Civil War
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Doctor Strange (not really necessary but it's one of my favorites)
