A review for Alita: battle Angel
First off, I do want to point out that this view has been taken before any knowledge of the manga so don't cry and say that the movie was so horrible compared to the manga or vise versa, this review is strictly the view of the movie. Hats off to Yukito Kishiro for this awesome story.

Out of no where a body drops and we slowly..slowly learn that a killer robot has somehow been torn to shreds and.. its alive?! This movie has its cliches and the beginning is slow, it makes you wonder if the action and overall story will make up for it. Trust me, it does. MAN this movie had me pumped. This woman comes out hard, punching and kicking, and not asking anyone for permission. Its hard to not compare Alita to Bladerunner or any other distant torn future story arc. We know almost nothing during this movie outside the intentions of this girl turned warrior turned cyborg death machine. We know that there was some sort of war 300 years ago between (it seems) earth and people from mars. This war ravaged the earth, technology was lost, cities were lost, and now we are left with this floating city. This is where big baddy lives. This guy seems to be in control of EVERYTHING and it seems that the good guys have lost in this world. Alita makes her way to love just to find heartbreak, a new body, and seemingly fame. It's all a goal, it seems, to get to the main dude above and i'm not talking about god..... imagery??????????
The action sequences are phenomenal. The strength and fluidity of this woman gives a hint to her past. Look no further for a strong female lead than Alita who will not back down for a challenge, and look for justice for the man above, Nova, to come. Sadly, this movie ends in a cliffhanger and BEGS for more so I guess we will all have to wait for part 2. I would take that over shoving a whole series into 2 hours though, thank god for that.
Over all for Alita: Battle Angel, I give it a 8/10. The story is great and keeps you theorizing, the action sequences are thrilling, acting about as you'd expect it to be along with the amazing talents of Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, and Christoph Waltz. The music wasn't a stand out to me, but did not disappoint. The visuals are stunning and should be with the likes of James Cameron onboard - not too bad- not horrible. My biggest take was the story, when you're up there with the likes of the before mentioned Bladerunner or just about any distant future sci-fi you just HAVE to be on your game and Alita: Battle Angel did not disappoint. Everything has its flaws and not every story can be history-making. So, over all, 8/10.
I suggest you go see the movie and get the movie when it comes out. If you're like me, you'll be reading the manga here soon too. Here's to you, Yukito Kishiro, for creating this amazing story.
