This past weekend, specifically June 8th, brought us another Tricon which means more comics, more devs, a cosplay contest, and more geek for the tristate area. If you are into comics and their development then this is the convention for you, being almost entirely comprised of comic developers and their producing companies.
With lanes full of those devs with information and deals on their comics complete with stories behind it, it becomes almost hard to find something not worth your time. One of our favorites from the convention was the guys behind Metal Shark Bro and the West Virginian company Electro Magnetic Press. We were able to talk to Kevin Cuffe and Bob Frantz from Metal Shark Bro and again the conversation was not a let down, if you guys ever get to hear the story behind how a dude with a shark head became a murderous heavy metal guitar axe BRO and how a floating eyeball started following him around you will not be disappointed. Tricon was the place to be that saturday you could have sat in on a panel and listen to how people like Kevin and Bob do what they do. If you were unable to attend this years Tricon don't worry they will be back next year.
In addition to Metal shark bro and others your local comic book publishing company, Electro Magnetic Press. These guys are awesome and in fact are bringing back the want to get more magazines about comics and short stories, and their mag is called Miscellania. Miscellania is a magazine comprised of short stories, art, comics, and ideas all from local communities. We think this is great, its a great way to view the talent around us and a great way to get your thoughts out for others to see. Stay tuned to them to see more miscellania.
All in all every year around this time Tricon pops up in Huntington, WV and that's the place to be to learn from the people who are making the things we love. Attend the con and pick their brains during panels, talk to them at their booths, and get a couple of their finished products. We love to attend cons and get the message out to everyone on whats going on around us and how people can get involved in what people want to do. Nothing worth gained is ever easy but we hope we can ease the travel for all. Batcon is next on our Con circuit and you bet we will be there and we hope you will be too.
