New Game by CATV: Nights of Strife

Critically Absurd has a new game in development and with Beta Test #1 a success we are looking for more!

If you've been following us lately you might have seen us post about needing beta testers for a public beta test event we held back on Feb 19 for our new game, Nights of Strife. For the past few years we have been running Werewolf at conventions and other public events, you might have seen us or played a few games. Since COVID hit and took a lot of things out we decided to finally buckle down and get to work on our own version of the game with unique roles and a story to go with it. and might I add some amazing art to go with it which is close to being publicly shown off. Big thanks to our artist and good friend James Clark at ClarkArt

What kind of game is Nights of Strife?

Like stated above Nights of Strife, or NoS, is based on the open source original game Werewolf and is a social deduction game, in our case is played in person in generally a circle or around a table. According Wikipedia, a social deduction game is "a game in which players attempt to uncover each other's hidden role or team allegiance." Players get their role and plays the part of what that card says.

The game is led by a Game Master, GM. He decides, based on how many people are in the game (so far we hold up to 20), what roles and how many will be in that game. Within each game there are 3 alignments in which you could win; Good, Evil, and Neutral (Which that player decides wins on their own or if they want to be Good or Evil. I wont get too in depth with the roles or anything beyond the very basics of how the game is played.... You'll have to come beta test or see us at an event near you! (events listed at the bottom)

Beta Test #1 Feb 19

Our first public beta test was a great success, better than we expected it to go and we have all the thanks to give to those who participated and those who filled out a survey for us. By the end of the day we had 20 people beta test Nos with multiple smaller games into many large games. With their help and data we are one step closer to getting our game to the prints for a possible investor or two and Kickstarter situation.

We will be holding public games in the future! When is the soonest you could try Nos? Herdcon March 5th. We will be there all day running games and doing our usual Convention press. Come see us, play a game, get your name listed in the final game, and take a survey of the game to get us your opinions and suggestions. We will also be starting up our podcast, ON AIR live during the con for the first episode of Season 4.

Here's our appearance dates of conventions.

HerdCon - March 5

Causeacon - April 29-May 1

Charcon - July 15-17

Matsuricon - August 12-14

Tsubasacon - October 7-9

There are other dates that we are looking at.

We will have more info on in the future!

Be sure to follow us on our website or anywhere we post to learn more and get more information. Happy Hunting!
